There is an informal taboo in Gehennum against sexual junction during menstruation. It is somewhat stronger than the one concerning pregnancy, but still no action will be taken by the community against a couple who break it. Men who take concubines so that they will not have to abstain from sex while their wives are menstruating are acting within their rights, but are considered to be making excuses for indulging in a marginally acceptable practice.
