Makhaira

A straight, two-edged sword, 100-110 cm long, with a grip designed for one-handed use. The maikhaira is not used by regular infantry, because of lack of room in close formations, and is very expensive. Because of these things, it is not a very common or popular weapon: its use is confined to makhetes. See weapons and shields.
