Lateen sail

The usual Gehennese sailing-vessel has a short mast with a long slanted spar at the top. A triangular sail is attached to the spar along its long edge. The free corner of the sail is drawn down towards the deck with a sheet. Lateen rigging is excellent for steady courses in consistent winds, and therefore highly suitable for coasting in the consistent sea breezes and offshores breezes of Gehennese coastal waters.
