A boardgame, played on a nineteen-by-nineteen grid, by two players, one playing black stones and the other playing white. Stones are not moved on the board once played. Players play alternately, black going first. Stones surrounded by the enemy’s stones without contact with empty grid points are captured by the enemy and removed from the board. The objective is to capture territory, i.e. to surround parts of the board so that the enemy cannot play stones in them that will not be captured. Go is widely played, and good players highly thought-of, throughout the World of Isles and in many parts of Earth.
