The almost-invariable means of disposing of cadavers in Gehennum is to burn them. For practical reasons this is done promptly after death. The funeral ceremonies include an eulogy, the cremation itself, maybe funeral games, a maudlin party, and, after the pyre has burned out and the ashes cooled, the burial of the bones. Personal items may be burned with the corpse, but there is no custom for burning significant valuables, and nothing like suttee. Universal cremation cuts down heavily of the incidence of undead.
